Donuts

Ingredients:
Amount Ingredient
1 tbsp golden flaxseed meal
3 tbsp water
2 cups + 2 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp yeast
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup whole milk
5 tbsp butter - melted
vegetable oil for frying
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla

Donuts

  1. Mix golden flax and water in a bowl and allow to thicken (5-10 minutes).
  2. Combine : flour, baking powder, yeast, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Combine milk and butter, microwave 30sec at a time until 110 Faherenheit.
  4. Make well in center of dry ingredients. Pour in flax, milk, and butter.
  5. Knead with dough hook for 5-8 minutes on medium speed.
  6. Add flour 1 tablespoon at a time until dough easily pulls away from side of bowl.
  7. Allow to rise for 1-2 hours in a warm environment or 8-12 hours in fridge.

  1. Lightly knead dough to release air, then roll out to 1/2 inch thickness.
  2. Cut out donuts and place on wax paper
  3. Allow to rise for 30-40 minutes until slightly puffed.

  1. Heat oil to 350 Faherenheit in a dutch oven or similar.
  2. Add donuts 2 at a time. After 45-60 seconds, flip using a sloted spoon.
  3. Cook until deep golden on all sides.
  4. Remove and allow to drain on a towel lined plate

Glaze

  1. Whisk together: powdered sugar, milk, vanilla.
  2. Dip donuts into glaze, allow to drip.

Sprinkle after the glaze has had a chance to drip a little.
